Strawberry season in full. These small, sweet, red fruits are a rarity that we are waiting for all year round. They have many vitamins and minerals, which positively influence our mood and make us healthier. So is it worth eating them all year round in the strawberry season?
Although, as with everything, with strawberries should not be exaggerated, it is definitely one of the healthier snacks offered by nutritionists. And right now it is worth tasting them, because they are not only healthy, but also tasty.
One of the main advantages of these fruits is their low energy density. To the delight of ladies, who on different diets are constantly, in a portion of strawberries we will find a very small amount of calories. A handful of strawberries (about 70 g) provides us with only 20 kcal, which is very beneficial compared to other fruits. A banana, for example, which also weighs 70 grams of calories, is three times as much.
A scientific study involving more than 500,000 people confirmed that strawberries have an excellent effect on the silhouette. After an in-depth analysis it turned out that people eating more of these fruits are less likely to be overweight.
Strawberry is a source of vitamin C, which supports the body's immunity. Interestingly, this seasonal fruit has more than lemon and orange. Eating strawberries is therefore an excellent way to control infections. Red fruits also contain vitamins A, B1, B2, B3 (PP), B6 and E. In addition, they contain many folic acid, fibre, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and iron. Strawberries are therefore a real vitamin bomb.
Strawberries are also a treasure for our veins and arteries. Radically protect against all cardiovascular diseases thanks to its high content of fiber, vitamin C and antioxidants..
But that is not all. In the 21st century, no one invented an effective cure for cancer, but it has been proven that strawberries can protect against it. Patients diagnosed with pre-cancer oesophageal changes have found out about it. They consumed 60 grams of strawberries every day for half a year. The effect? In more than 80% of volunteers remission of the disease and reduction of cancer development markers were observed.
Interestingly, eating these fruits regularly (although it is a bit difficult in our latitude) also reduces the risk of gastrointestinal cancers.
